About 2nd Animal Disease and One Health Forum

 

From November 15 to 17, 2024, the 2ed Animal Disease and One Health Forum was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. It was jointly organized by Huazhong Agricultural University, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, and South China Agricultural University. This metting was hosted by the journal Animal Disease, the College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at Huazhong Agricultural University, and the National Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology Resources Exploration and Utilization. The event was co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the Journal of Huazhong Agricultural University, and the journal Breeding and Feed.

The symposium focused on epidemiology and etiology, host-pathogen interactions and infection mechanisms, and novel prevention and control technologies. The program included opening reports, invited and keynote presentations, and a young scientists' forum. A total of 42 distinguished scientists from nine countries, including six academicians, delivered presentations on the latest research advances in animal diseases. In collaboration with the FAO, the symposium also organized a Youth Poster Challenge to promote the One Health concept among young researchers worldwide.

More than 300 researchers and professionals from leading institutions and industry frontlines in the field of animal diseases, both from China and abroad, gathered to explore the application of innovative science and technologies in the prevention, control, and treatment of animal diseases, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in animal health. The symposium received an enthusiastic response and was covered by United Nations news agencies.
